Hi everyone,
This is the English version of my blog. I'm starting to make more and more foreign friends and I want them to be able to read my blog as well. Especially my boyfriend of course! Hope you will enjoy it!
It's June 2013 and I finally made the decision to travel to Australia on a working holiday visa for at least a year. Since I'm almost 29 I'm just in time, and it may be a kind of a last-minute-thing because to get this visa you cannot be over 30 years old when you apply for your first visa. You can extend the visa with another year after that and of course, you cannot be over 31 then. This may put some pressure on me, but under pressure I deliver! This idea is not something that just emerged. I've always looked at Australia as being some kind of magical place with fantastic animals and plant life. The stories that you hear from travelers, students etc. are always impressive, awesome and life changing. Everyone who has traveled there will tell you that there's a fantastic "laid-back" mentality and of course the hospitality, that's simply as it is supposed to be. If I sum all of this up the only thing I can think of, is;
GO, DO IT, YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!!!!

All my life I have been living in Amsterdam and I think it's an amazing city. I mean that from the bottom of my heart, but it's time for me to check out other places. To be honest, the thing that bothers me the most is the weather in Holland!! I mean, come on, it's raining most of the time, winters are cold and when summer is finally there we get maybe 3 weeks of really good weather and the rest is not summer weather. This summer we are waiting for the first summer day to arrive, and when it will be here most of the dutch have to work, because it's never nice in the weekends. If it happens that the tables turn and there will be a beautiful saturday, you cannot enjoy any outdoor activities. This country is way too crowded, especially the cities!
Since I was 16 I've been working full-time. Mostly in bars and restaurants. I've always been able to survive, but now that I'm on my own, no one can provide me with a nice affordable place to stay. I should either move out of Amsterdam to get this or move out of the country.
My mom lives in the United States of America, Arizona, Phoenix. Beautiful weather, but I don't like the mentality in that country. The fear culture is so dominant and all that you have to do is work, consume, take pills, buy more than you can afford and in the end you have to reverse the mortgage on your home so the bank can have your house when you die…. So sad!!
So even though I've been actively participating in society, and working my ass off everyday, I'm forced to move in with my aunt and uncle. And I'm happy about this, because they are really nice, sweet people. Also this situation is not too bad at all, because it gives me plenty of financial room to work towards living this dream and take this adventure on. Everything happens for a reason...
September 2012 I moved in with my aunt and uncle. At that time I was planning to visit my mom in May 2013. This never happened, because I met someone, someone special, someone who accepts me the way I am and who makes me laugh a lot. He's from Italy and is here in Amsterdam to save for his dream; surfing, working and living in Australia. This kind of opened my eyes again, that the world is bigger and that I have nothing that really keeps me here. That I have to chase my dreams and don't pay attention to what others say or think about me.
In December we moved in together in a way too expensive house for a lot of reasons. He lived with friends, so in order to get privacy we had to book hotels. This costed us both a lot of money. I had a job in a horrible restaurant with break shift which made me travel to and from work twice a day. When he found this apartment I agreed on moving in together because it was convenient and I really like hime, so why not?! As I said, the house was expensive so this cut my budget back so bad that I wasn't able to save for a ticket to my mom.
The time with him in this apartment is ending though because he's going to leave the 5th of August 2013 to his birthplace to make the final arrangements to move to Bali for 8 months and then continue the journey to Australia. His dream has brought mine back to me and I'm so happy about this, because it's just in time!
At this moment I have a really nice job with nice co-workers and I will definitely be able to stay here to save that magical amount of 5000 Euro to go and do everything that I want. But first I'm going to visit my mom in September, because that's my first priority now. When I return to Holland the real saving can begin!
I created this blogpage for my family and friends in order for them to be able to follow my dreams and developments. I will keep everyone posted through this site. On the top of the page you find a button that says ; "The preparation...". This is where you can find my stories ;)
Enjoy it!
